Pouf

No matter what the square footage is, we could always use more space. This is why getting creative with storage is essential in apartment living. Instead of getting more bookcases or shelving, why not invest in a pouf?

You don’t know what a pouf is? It’s just a smaller version of a beanbag chair. What’s great about these is that they can not only serve as extra seating or an ottoman, but they can also store some of your things! Now that the cold weather is gone you could stuff a pouf full of your out-of-season sweaters. You can save room for other under the bed storage and you have comfy seating!

What are you creative storage ideas? If you want more tips, keep checking the blog & look at other great sites like Apartment Therapy.

Breakfast To Go!

May 13th, 2010

english muffin

Rushing in the morning? Too little time for breakfast? Keep these breakfast foods around when you are on the go.

1. That hard-boiled egg you saw in the refrigerator would be a great choice.

2. Individual cups of low-fat yogurt are great to eat on the go. They have plenty of carbs and protein to fill you up and give you energy throughout the day.

3. Whole-grain toast or english muffins with peanut butter will give you protein and some good fats.

4. Grab some low-fat cheese and crackers and off you go – a great way to start your day.

5. If you have time to cook something, but not enough time to eat at home make yourself a breakfast wrap. Fill a whole-grain tortilla shell with eggs, cheese, and peppers, or peanut butter and a sliced banana.

So next time you hit snooze one too many times and pop out of bed in a scurry, just remember these quick ideas for breakfast on the go!

Pilates Essentials

It is often difficult to make time to go to the gym or the park to workout. Even worse, in today’s busy career-driven world, many of us find ourselves working late and just wanting to head home when we finally finish up at the office.

There are a few essential pieces of equipment that you can keep at home so you can workout anytime.

Medicine ball: These come in a variety of sizes, weights, and colors. They are perfect for working out your core. Use a medicine ball to tone abs, arms, and strengthen your core – just 5-10 minutes every day will produce results.

Free weights: There are many different kinds of free weight sets you can purchase, so be sure to find ones that suit you best and stick with them. You can use different weights for different exercises.

Workout videos: There are videos for just about every workout so purchase one that interests you! Take your pick – Yoga, Tae-Bo, Pilates, toning, abs strengthening, arm strengthening, etc. If workout videos are not your favorite, but you like video games, check out Wii Fit, Wii Sports, or other Wii exercise games that will get you moving and raise your heart rate.

These workout essentials are perfect for the busy bee that is looking to stay in shape and aims to fit a workout in on a whim.

Do you utilize videos or video games to workout? What type of at home workout regime works for you?
